What Brought (& Kept) Me Here
After my first summer with the Transformation Guild, I knew I wanted to come back. I really valued the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and see how the work we do can make a real difference in the community. Technology 4 Causes has an amazing mission, and the people and environment here truly embody that mission, which is something I love being a part of. This year, I wanted to continue building the skills I gained while also challenging myself to become a better leader, teammate, and contributor. I’ve always believed in giving back and doing meaningful work for my community, and being part of the Guild has allowed me to do just that.
Skills I Gained
Technical Skills
I strengthened my technical skills by working with tools like GitLab, JSON, Anvilor, Webflow, and VS Code.
Teamwork
Working across several diverse teams taught me how to communicate, collaborate, and support others.
Communication
I became more confident communicating my ideas through writing, outreach, and team projects.
Leadership
I challenged myself to take more initiative and become a stronger leader and teammate.
Interviewing
I learned how to not be afraid to talk to people and strengthened my ability to ask thoughtful questions and capture their stories.
Professional Development
This summer helped me build confidence while growing as a teammate, leader, and contributor.
My Projects
Susquehanna Baseball Alliance LP
Project Overview: This project involved create a landing page for the Susquehanna Baseball Academy. SBA is building a permanent home field for its young athletes, creating a space where players can grow both on and off the field. The landing page highlights the Field of Dreams project, sponsorship opportunities, and ways the community can support the academy.
My Role: I designed and developed the entire landing page from start to finish. I organized the content, created the page layout and information, and designed the content to clearly communicate SBA's story and goals. I also focused on making the page easy to navigate while creating and engaging experience for supporters and community members.
Home Runs for the Homeless Event Recap LP
Project Overview: This project involved creating a detailed recap page for the Harford Family House 2026 Home Runs for the Homeless Event. The goal was to showcase the impact of the event, highlight key moments, and engage the community by telling the story behind the experience.
My Role: Alongside my fellow intern, Layla Ratliff, we created this landing page. We attended the event and interviewed several people, including Heather Volk, Assistant Director of Development with HFH, Paul Beaulieu, Director of Marketing & Communications with HFH, and Kathy Walsh, HFH Chief Advancement Officer.
Home Runs for the Homeless Technology & Scores LP
Project Overview: This project involved creating a landing page highlighting the technology behind the tournament, along with the results, including team standings, award winners, and player scores. The page explains how the custom scoring system helped track scores, update standings in real time, and how it made the tournament more efficient. The page also gives participants and the community a place to celebrate the accomplishments and results from the event.
My Role: I helped create and organize the landing page. After interviewing Tim Kutcher about the Anvilor application he developed for the event, learning how the technology streamlined scoring and updated the leaderboard in real time. I worked on presenting the scores, awards, and event technology in a clear and engaging way.
Community Giving Day Event LP
Project Overview: This project involved creating an event landing page for the Community Giving Day Event on October 17th. The event is a countywide event that connects Harford County resident with local nonprofit organizations and their needed donations. The event brings nonprofits together for an afternoon of community engagement, education, workshops, family activities, and giving!
My Role: Alongside fellow interns, Aleeza and Aleesha Khan, we created a page that highlights what the event is and what it can offer!
Community Giving Day Sponsor LP
Project Overview: This project involved creating an event sponsor landing page for the Community Giving Day Event. The event brings nonprofits together for an afternoon of community engagement, education, workshops, family activities, and giving! It focused on creating a sponsor page to encourage local businesses to support the event and other sponsorship opportunities, benefits, and how sponsors can contribute to creating a stronger and more connected Harford County.
My Role: Alongside fellow interns, Aleeza and Aleesha Khan, I helped create and organize the landing page so that the different sponsorship levels and benefits are clear.
Harford Helps Database & Webflow
Project Overview: This project focused on reviewing and updating the Harford Helps database to ensure information for 300+ local nonprofits and organizations was accurate and up to date. With AI utilization, we reviewed mission statements, volunteer opportunities, donation needs, and resources so community members could find reliable information on the Harford Helps website.
My Role: Alongside my fellow interns, Aleeza and Aleesha Khan, I helped review hundreds of organizations and update their information across the database. When an organization was missing a mission statement, I used AI to create one based on their work and purpose. I also updated keywords for volunteer opportunities, donations, and resources in a spreadsheet, which was then manually transferred into Webflow to update the live website.
Tee Up 4 Impact Donations
Project Overview: This project focused on reaching out to local businesses and organizations to collect donated items for player bags and raffle prizes for the Tee Up 4 Impact charity golf tournament. The goal was to provide players with meaningful giveaways and opportunities to support and engage the community.
My Role: I contacted businesses through emails, phone calls, and online inquiry forms to request donations. I learned a lot about persistence and handling rejection - especially when calls were unexpectedly ended - but continued reaching out and was able to secure a Chick-fil-A raffle bag, Newberry Cafe donuts, 10 Horizon Cinema movie tickets, Raising Cane's gift basket, and 145 Texas Roadhouse free appetizer coupons. This experience helped me become more confident with professional outreach.
Shocks 4 Jocks Website
Project Overview: Shocks 4 Jocks is an initiative focused on improving AED awareness, accessibility, and preparedness in athletic communities. After initially creating the website within Continual Community last year, we decided to rebuild it on Anvilor to overcome some limitations while keeping the same core mission and information. The revamped website includes an interactive AED Map, Chuck Gordy's Story, Resource & Prep Hub, and Community Stars Hall.
My Role: With the help of Tim Kutcher, I designed and developed the website, turning the original concept into a completely revamped platform on Anvilor. I also reached out to businesses and organizations to encourage them to submit their AED locations and Community Star stories, helping us begin building the database behind the website. This project gave me the opportunity to combine design, technology, outreach, and community impact all into one project.
Shocks 4 Jocks AED Map
Project Overview: The AED Map was originally created so that each locations had to be manually added to the website's code, so a system was created so that it could automatically update the map as new locations were submitted and approved.
My Role: Tim Kutcher developed a process for connecting Anvilor Forms submissions to the AED Map, creating a much more efficient solution than manually updating the code. Tim developed a Curator feature that connects directly to Anvilor Forms, allowing submitted AED locations to be reviewed and approved before automatically updating the map.
Social Media Videos
Project Overview: The goal was to create a series of engaging videos to showcase the intern experience and share glimpses of daily life during the Transformation Guild summer program. These videos included interview videos, guess the intern by their voice, and OOTD's! These pieces were designed to boost engagement on social media, highlight the human side of the internship, and inspire others to join or support the Guild.
My Role: I took on multiple responsibilities for this project, including filming, editing, and starring in the videos. I planned and executed each video segment, ensuring the content was clear, engaging, and aligned with the Guild’s brand.
Gratitude
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude. First, I would like to thank Mrs. Shelly Yurechko and Mrs. Sue Kutcher for giving me an opportunity that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Your kidness, smiles, and support have made these past two years truly unforgettable. I would also like to thank Tim Kutcher, who was always willing to lend a helping hand and share his knowledge throughout this internship.
I am so grateful for everyone who has taken the time to help me learn, offer advice, or provide support along the way! A special thank you goes to my mentor, Camila Camacho, for her constant guidance, encouragement, and knowledge throughout this experience. I also want to thank my fellow interns who made this experience even more memorable. I truly couldn't have asked for better people to learn and grow with.
This summer has been incredibly meaningful to me. I have learned so much, not only about technology and real-world projects, but also about myself and the kind of teammate and leader I want to become. I am so grateful for every opportunity, challenge, conversation, and connection that made this summer what it was. Most importantly, I am grateful that I got to spend another summer surrounded by people who genuinely care about making a difference.
