What is it? 

Educators 4 Impact is an initiative that recognizes exceptional teachers throughout Harford County who have demonstrated excellence throughout their careers and made a lasting impact on their students and communities. The initiative gives educators the opportunity to have their stories, accomplishments, and influence shared with the broader community.

My Involvement
As a current high school student, I had the unique opportunity to honor one of my own teachers through the creation of an Educators 4 Impact landing page. I worked on a page highlighting Jessica Brady, a freshman-year English teacher at my school who made a meaningful difference in my academic journey. I helped gather and organize information about her teaching career, values, and impact as an educator and turned it into a digital landing page that showcased her story. This project was especially meaningful to me because I was able to use the skills I developed throughout my internship to recognize a teacher who personally impacted me.

What is it? 

Harford Helps is a community initiative that connects Harford County residents with local nonprofits, volunteer opportunities, and resources. Its goal is to make it easier for people to get involved in their community while helping local organizations increase awareness and connect with potential volunteers and supporters.

My Involvement
One of the larger organizations I had the opportunity to work with over the summer was Harford Helps. Alongside some of my fellow interns, I worked closely with Ms. Alicia at Harford Helps to create content that supported nonprofits throughout Harford County. One of my favorite experiences was conducting an interview with Tina Ferrandi from Shadow Cats TNR, a nonprofit featured on the Harford Helps website. I used the interview to help create a Harford Helps spotlight page that shared the organization’s mission, work, and volunteer opportunities. The page also highlighted ways for community members, particularly high school students, to get involved. Through this project, I was really able to strengthen my interviewing, writing, and digital content-creation skills while helping connect local nonprofits with members of the community.

What is it? 

Home Runs for the Homeless is an annual fundraising event hosted by Harford Family House that combines community involvement, baseball, and philanthropy to raise funds and awareness for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Harford County. The event is a home-run derby where teams and individual batters compete while supporting Harford Family House’s mission. The organization provides shelter, housing assistance, support, and resources to help people experiencing homelessness move toward greater stability and independence.

My Involvement
I had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Home Runs for the Homeless event at Ripken Stadium and work alongside Yumnah to help document and share the story of the event. Throughout the event, we interviewed participants and community members to learn more about their experiences and why they chose to support Harford Family House. We also photographed the event to capture the atmosphere, participants, and different aspects of the fundraiser. After the event, I helped turn the interviews, photographs, and information we collected into a recap landing page. I organized the information and incorporated the photos we took to create a page that highlighted the event, the people involved, and the mission behind it. This project allowed me to apply and strengthen my skills in communication, interviewing, photography, writing, and digital content creation while helping promote an important cause within the Harford County community.
