Why I Joined The Guild?
I learned about the Transformation Guild through my sister, Yumnah Khan, after she won the William J. Sacco Award from Patterson Mill in 2025. After a successful summer internship with the Guild, I made new friends, learned new skills, and built meaningful relationships. By the end of that summer, I already knew I wanted to come back. The Guild combines writing and technology to support nonprofits and advance charitable initiatives. Their impactful work makes a real difference in communities, and being part of it motivated me to apply again.

My Projects
We partnered with Harford Helps to choose about 10 organizations to raise awareness on volunteer opportunities, as well as raise awareness of Harford Helps. I participated with Layla Ratliff, where we worked together to send emails and conduct interviews. I was able to interview and create landing pages for two organizations: Project Comfort: Maryland and Harford Family House.
My Role:
- Wrote outreach emails and planned interviews
- Created interview questions and conducted interviews with local organizations
- Designed landing pages to promote the spotlight campaign
Team Member: Layla Ratliff
We partnered with Harford Helps with the goal of supporting its Community Giving Day: a countywide event designed to connect Harford County residents with local nonprofits, bringing organizations and community members together through donation drives, volunteer opportunities, food, and activities.
I helped create the event landing page to give attendees a central place to learn about the Community Giving Day, including what to expect, event details, and activities.
My Role:
- Designed and created the event landing page
- Organized content and information for event attendees
- Reached out to food trucks and helped secure Box Hill Pizzeria for the event
Team Members: Yumnah Khan, Aleeza Khan
To help make Community Giving Day possible, Harford Helps relies on support from local businesses and community partners. I created a dedicated sponsorship landing page designed to introduce potential sponsors to the event and showcase the different ways to support it.
The page was designed to communicate how to sponsor the event while making it easy for businesses and organizations to learn more and take the next step.
My Role:
- Designed and created the Community Giving Day sponsorship landing page
- Organized sponsorship information into a clear and engaging format
- Designed the sponsorship flyer featuring the different sponsorship levels and benefits
Team Members: Yumnah and Aleeza Khan
Harford Helps: Updating Directory
To help keep the Harford Helps directory accurate and up to date, Yumnah, Aleeza, and I worked together to audit nearly 300+ nonprofit organizations listed in the directory. Using AI, we explored how AI could make this process more efficient while still maintaining human oversight.
Working with Yumnah and Aleeza Khan, we:
- Audited and update information for 300+ organizations in the Harford Helps directory
- Used Gemini and prompt engineering to review each organization's website, identifying relevant volunteer, resource, and donation keywords.
- Manually reviewed the information to verify accuracy.
As part of the Baseball 4 Causes initiative, I collaborated with Aleeza Khan to cover the 4th annual local baseball game called the Harford Experience. We gathered testimonials from five players, wrote a game recap, and created a landing page to highlight the event and its connection to the cause.
My Role:
- Helped gather and record testimonials from players
- Contributed to writing the game recap
- Assisted in designing and building the landing page
Team Members: Aleeza Khan
I created a spotlight page highlighting Alex Way, a Baltimore radio host, educator, social media director, and community volunteer for the Baseball 4 Causes event, Harford Experience. The goal was to share Alex's story, career journey, connection to the organization, and how her work in media helps strengthen the community.
My Role:
- Conducted an interview with Alex to learn about her career, journey, and involvement in Baseball 4 Causes
- Developed and organized content for the landing page
- Highlighted her work in radio, social media, education, and community service

Thank You
This summer has been another unforgettale expereince with the Transformation Guild. I want to give a special thank you to my mentor, Camila Camacho, for being so kind and supportive. I also want to thank Sue Kutcher and Shelly Yurechko for their continued guidance and support throughout my internship. They have made my experiences with the Guild so meaningful, and I'm incredibly thankful for everything they do for the interns. I'm especially grateful to Alicia Hamilton, founder of Harford Helps, for allowing me to work so closely with her this summer, from the spotlight campaign to the Community Giving Day project. I also want to give a huge thanks to my fellow interns; one of my favorite parts of coming into the office was getting to spend time together and, of course, the desserts!
