2026 Harford Experience Recap

Event Recap

The 2026 Baseball 4 Causes (B4C) Harford Experience brought together families, friends, volunteers, and community partners for an unforgettable day of baseball, camaraderie, and giving back.

Game one began at Harford Community College Varsity Stadium, where Paul Houston opened the event with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem, followed by event announcements from Alex Way from radio station 100.7. Participants from a wide range of organizations came to play, including the Diamond Collective, BUBA, HMBL, JSB, and DBW, together for a fun-filled day that showcased the spirit of baseball.

One of the day's most memorable moments was when Carl Roy, our oldest participant, put the ball against our youngest participant. The game remained close throughout and ultimately came down to the final inning, where Squad C & D rallied for a dramatic come-from-behind victory by a single run.

Following lunch between games, hosted by Sue Kutcher, game 2 began at John Carroll for the afternoon match. The afternoon games once again featured outstanding competition, with Squads C & B emerging as champions.

The event also included a special birthday celebration for Cameron Jones, adding another memorable moment to an already outstanding day.

Thursday Night Cookout

Participants in the 2026 Harford Experience gathered at the home of Sue and John Kutcher Thursday evening for the annual poolside cookout. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal from Mission Barbecue while spending the evening poolside, sharing stories, meeting new friends, and reconnecting with familiar faces.

A highlight of the evening was the live music performed on the patio by Steven Kutcher, Alex Way, and Shane Schisler. Their performance provided the perfect soundtrack for a summer evening, and the performance was even more memorable when participant Ckori Jones joined the group on the drums.

The cookout was a wonderful way to kick off the weekend, giving everyone a chance to unwind and welcome new participants to the Baseball 4 Causes family. Thank you to John and Sue Kutcher for once again opening their home and hosting such a memorable family evening.

Alex Way has always had a passion for connecting people through storytelling. Growing up in Baltimore as a lifelong Orioles fan, baseball has always been a meaningful part of her life. After discovering Baseball 4 Causes (B4C) through her boyfriend, Steven Kutcher, she was inspired to get involved and use her talents in broadcasting and communication to support the organization's mission. Her ability to engage audiences, celebrate the game, and bring people together made her a perfect fit for the Harford Experience.

Supporting Meaningful Causes

Transformation Guild

The Transformation Guild is a youth mentoring initiative from Technology 4 Causes, launched by the Kutcher Foundation in collaboration with DICORP, Inc. This program empowers young writers to make a difference by combining storytelling with technology. Through hands-on mentorship, students learn to craft impactful narratives that promote nonprofit work and inspire community engagement. The Guild provides a platform for students and young adults to grow their skills, amplify their voices, and contribute meaningfully to causes that matter.

Josh Hamer Legacy Foundation

Joshua Hamer, born April 2nd, 2001, in Denton, Texas, was a talented, joyful young man and player #25 on The John Carroll School's Patriots Baseball Team. With a passion for all sports, but especially baseball, Joshua excelled academically and was loved by all. Tragically, in 2017, at the age of 15, he lost his life in a car accident on his way to school. In 2017, the Joshua Hamer Memorial was established to help provide financial support for students to give them the opportunity to attend John Carroll. Over $120,000 in aid has been provided, creating a life altering trajectory for many recipients. In 2023 the Josh Hamer Legacy Foundation was established to expand support for college scholarships. In its first year, the scholarship has already helped three students, and the goal is to continue changing lives one person at a time.

BUBA Programs

B4C has partnered with BUBA on several initiatives. The Baltimore Urban Baseball Association is a Baltimore-based nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives through baseball and softball. Founded with a mission to increase opportunities for youth in underserved communities, BUBA uses sports as a vehicle for mentorship, leadership development, academic enrichment, character building, and community empowerment.
