Sentiments and Memories
Gloria & Gerry
Remembering Amy for the many occasions we spent together as a family here at the Bay. We especially recall the good times we spent together on our trip to Massachusetts where Gloria and I became first time New Englanders.

A Determination That Never Left Her. After heart surgery and brain surgery, Amy had to relearn so much, including how to control her breathing. Yet she returned to something she loved: music. Playing the flute again became part of her rehabilitation and a symbol of her incredible determination. She fought her way back to doing so many of the things that brought her joy.

Osh and Adam, I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mom was an angel, and I know she’s smiling down on you both. She was amazing and made you the good human beings you are. Keep shining and being the bright light you both are. I love you both like brothers. My memories of your mom go back to when we taught at Hyattsville Middle School together, and I would crash at the house after school or after Howard homecoming. We had so many memories, and I’ll always remember how accepting she was to have the friends around it was her happy place. The boys hanging out, and the way she said both your names… it was full of love, and in her eyes you both could do no wrong. I remember getting by the house one last time to visit, a few years back, and I’m so glad we did. You boys were her light, and she fought hard, but I choose to remember the good times. Simple times, but meaningful. We had great memories from Hyattsville Middle School, and she raised great people. Keep being you, and keep making her proud. Love you both.
She loved with action and you both do too.

Morning Coffee with Mom... Some of the most meaningful memories were also the simplest. During her final years, Adam and Amy shared their morning coffee together in the backyard almost every day. They would sit, talk about family, pranked called Ash, and discuss whatever the day ahead might bring. Adam and Ash worked hard to create a space where their mom could enjoy this chapter of her life, and that backyard became one of her favorite places. Those ordinary mornings became extraordinary memories.

I remember your mom letting a bunch of stink pre-adolescent boys come over her house after hours of playing basketball to hang out. I remember when she picked me up to go watch Hoop Dreams with you and after the movie we started meeting at 38th in the morning hoping a random scout would drive by and see us. I also remember leaving from your house to go to prom. We both had Chinese collared tuxedos and both of our moms took pictures outside your house.

Amy, I am so sad that we never took a picture together. Please anyone who has a picture of us please share. My sister from another, thanks for allowing me to care for your sons, you trusted them to be in my presence, and my home as youngsters. Mostly, thanks for loving my son Isaiah. He loved him some Ms Green, as he called you. Honestly, I loved you when we first met, you had such a kind child like spirit. I could see where Osh & Adam got it from. Sadly, When I found out you were ill and needed assistance, I gladly volunteered to Help become a caregiver for you, no doubt, because that’s what family do. It was my pleasure, because I got a chance to spend time with you. I enjoyed sharing memories with you. I loved that we went on walks, me pushing you in your wheel chair. We shared some great laughs. I found out how much you like eating cup cakes and sweets. I was also looking forward to take you swimming in the pool. I knew how much you loved to do that. I will miss you sweet Lady. You will be forever in my heart. Keep smiling in Paradise because that’s where angels go. God Bless You Queen…Carol Johnson

Grandma’s Mini Adventures - Amy was an amazing grandmother who believed that learning should be an adventure. She would walk from her home in Hyattsville and take the grandchildren on little outings, including trips to Busboys and Poets to see Culture Queen. Whether it was music, books, culture, or simply exploring together, Grandma was always finding ways to spark their imaginations and love of learning.
Rhoma
I worked with Amy, and one of the joys of my day was to pop into her office and hear her say, “hey, Rhoma” in that delightful voice of hers and laugh until tears rolled at some ridiculous thing or another! :) Amy brightened our hallway with her shining light. The love she gave was amazing, and a blessing. ILYM, always! My prayers, blessings, and condolences to her family, who she loved fiercely. Rhoma

A House Full of Grandchildren - Easter at Grandma’s house: Amy holding Isabel with Chase beside her, while little Elizabeth and Max played nearby. Her home became a gathering place for the family and the setting for countless childhood memories. She loved nothing more than having her grandchildren around her.

The Famous Turkey... Thanksgiving and Christmas meant family—and Amy’s turkey. She was famous for preparing and carving the holiday turkey, surrounded by everyone she loved. Holidays at her house were filled with food, laughter, conversation, and the traditions that brought our family together year after year.
Adam
Grandma Made Christmas Magical - Amy loved spoiling her grandchildren, especially at Christmas. One year, Isabel and Elizabeth desperately wanted a dollhouse. Grandma bought it as a surprise and helped Adam put it together late at night so Santa could “deliver” it. She came back bright and early Christmas morning because she couldn't miss seeing the joy on their faces. That was Grandma, she found happiness in making the people she loved happy.

Adventures in Thailand, Amy wasn't afraid of an adventure. She would travel to Thailand to spend extended visits with Adam, sometimes staying for a month or two at a time. This picture captures her enjoying one of those trips.. on the beach, surrounded by beautiful water and scenery, ready for another day of exploring. Thailand gave mother and son the chance to experience a completely different part of the world together and created memories that would last a lifetime.

Ms. Amy welcomed me into her home just like I was one of her own. I spent many school and weekend nights there with Adam; we'd walk over to Hyattsville Middle or 38th to play basketball, then grab a snack at Ponchos afterward. Simple nights, but looking back, they meant everything. She never made me feel like a guest, always like family. I'm so grateful for that, and I'll carry those memories with me. Sending love to Adam and the whole family

Remembering the special times with Amy and celebrating Mother's Day together as a family. I will always cherish her laughter, her amazing travel stories, and her warm heart. She always had a beautiful smile on her face, and her kindness and joy will be deeply missed.

Beautiful Amy, I Thank GOD That we had the chance to share July 4th 2026 together. I will always love you and remember the good times we had talking and laughing and eating. You are already truly missed

Amy and Anne and their families came all the way to Las Vegas, NV to attend my wedding in 2001. I couldn't believe everyone made it, and it was a multi-day celebration with so much fun, laughter, and love.

We are so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of your Mom. We know that she was your rock and will be dearly missed.

Dear Ms. Green, Thank you for always welcoming me into your home and being kind to me. You have always been generous with your time and hospitality. I don’t have a seminal moment or memory of our relationship but I would note that the most consistent thing that you always did was call me out on my nonsense. If there was a fact to be checked or a story that needed some corroboration you would frequently be able to tell when I wasn’t able to verify or back up my argument in politics and social matters (especially in my twenties). I’m sad now that I’m a little more articulate and experienced in life we won’t be able to share those moments together. Your compassion to alternative points of view and different cultures has always been an open mindedness that our society lacks today. We are all better off learning that side of humanity - hopefully, we can carry on that same level of patience and tolerance when we find disagreement with others and ourselves. You were an example of that humility and it shows in my brother, Adam; Ash; Charlotte; and your grandkids. Thank you for the gift of humility and patience. May you be at peace and calm from here until infinity.

What a wonderful day- 2001.

This is a picture of me and my Aunt Amy when I was her little Charlotte. Looking at this photo brings back so many beautiful memories and reminds me just how lucky I have been to have her in my life. Aunt Amy has been such a big and special part of my life for as long as I can remember. She has given me so many memories, so much love, laughter, and moments that I will carry with me forever.

So, when I met Adam, I was a newbie to the area and we became friends via my cousins friends. I have to admit my memory is TRASH and I don't have a ton of memories of Amy but I KNOW this.. when I see her, I see Adam. And when I see Adam, I see her. And when I see them, I see an infectious smile. The type of smile that u never forget. The type of smile that radiates humility, grace, loyalty, friendliness and most importantly love! I can honestly say that she was ALWAYS kind to me. I know I can count on one hand the amount of times I heard her raise her voice and that's only because Adam did something wrong. I feel weird calling her Amy so I'll just call her M.O.M (my other mother). During the recent gubment furlough Adam I reconnected and I got to see his new house and lo and behold. There was MOM. Smile still solar bright. She remembered me and we had a great conversation. Did I forget to say she had a good sense of humor?!? Well, she did. We laughed. We hugged and I just knew I would see her again soon to rinse and repeat. GOD had other plans but her spirit will stay with me forever because that type of person leaves an everlasting imprint on EVERYONE she encounters. Love u MOM. ALWAYS!

I had the privilege of meeting Amy and sharing a cup of morning coffee with her a few times. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to spend much time with her, I will always remember her warmth, her extraordinary, contagious laugh, and the light that shone through her eyes. May her loved ones find peace in knowing that Amy knew she was deeply loved, and continue to carry her values, kindness, and beautiful spirit in their hearts, and may the memories she created and the lives she touched be a lasting reminder of the special person she was.

I've been racking my brain trying to remember a particular story about Ms. Green that I can share on this digital remembrance wall. I realize that my memories of Mrs. Green aren't about one specific thing she did…. Or an event that occurred. My remembrance of her is who she was and the way she carried herself. Me and Ash always talk about “What Did You Do”? Not what did you say. So here are a few reflections on her… Ms. Green was a lovely woman! She had such a sweet spirit! I never ever was around her and sensed anything remotely negative! She smiled… She giggled... She was kind. There was always a certain levity and lightness about her. She just gave off good energy!!! When she was dealing with issues related to memory, somehow she always seemed to remember me. I never really felt like Mrs. Green didn't know who I was. That meant alot to me. The other thing I know about Mrs. Green is that she did a great job raising her sons. She was a single mother raising two boys in the 80s, 90s…and she did it in Hyattsville MD. When I look at the men Ash and Adam have become…because of her time spent….it makes me reflect on her sacrifice for her family. She stuck it out going to work, paying the bills, making sure food was on the table for the entire life. They were her focus. She showed up. Period! So when I think about Ms. Amy Green, that's what I think about. Her spirit! Her smile! Her kindness! Her joy! Her sacrifice! Her commitment to family! And I'm forever grateful to her because she gave me my best friend. And she also gave me Adam, who is doing his best every day to be a great man as well. So thank you Mrs. Green. You lived a great life that will be remembered by Ckori Jones Sr.

For more than 38 years, Amy Green has been my best friend. We stayed connected through weekly lunches at our favorite Indian restaurant, Woodlands in Langley Park. We supported each other through life‘s challenges and sorrows. When my sister was hospitalized with a collapsed lung, Amy came with me early in the morning to visit her in the ICU. When my daughter died suddenly in 2014, Amy came right over to my house and stayed with me throughout that tragic day. We also took many trips together with our friends and our children. In 2022, Amy and I took our last big epic adventure, a three day trip to Montana. We explored glacier national Park, Flathead Lake, Kalispell, and Missoula. I became her documentarian, making short videos each day to share our amazing journey with her family. I am so grateful for all of the time that I was fortunate to spend with my dear friend Amy, and with family. Her shining spirit lives on!
This photo is Amy and I at Fuller Lake, Pennsylvania, in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Amy and I had a wonderful time when she visited me for a week in July 2025. We went on a different adventure every day, exploring the countryside and enjoying soft-serve ice cream at roadside stands.

I am so lucky to have had Amy as a friend, neighbor, co-worker and sister. When we moved into our house on Livingston Street more than 35 years ago, Amy was the 1st of the neighborhood welcome committee. When My son, Joe, was born, Amy brought over a ready made dinner from Costco - my 1st trip to Costco, years later was with Amy. I have countless memories of Amy, talking with her about her history, family, books, movies, food and politics. Busboys and Poets was a favorite destination for brunch. After Amy retired from FDA and the group was interviewing new staff, someone coined the term "the Amy factor" meaning to be able to have a calming effect on others, even when things get rough. When Amy had grandkids visiting, I could hear her laugh from across the street. She had laughter in her voice.

I’m so sorry to hear of Amy’s passing. Amy and I worked at the same branch at the FDA from about 2001- 2008. Amy’s infectious laughter brightened our branch meetings and hallway chatter. We worked on different topics, but Amy stepped in and helped cover my work when I was on maternity leave. Amy loved to talk about her family, especially her two boys and their adventures in finding partners and life paths. She also loved to hear about my young children and was supportive of me as a working mom. With fond memories of Amy, sharing my condolences with her family.

I will always remember Ms. Amy’s beautiful smile, kind heart, and infectious spirit. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed, and her warmth and personality could truly light up a room. Adam, I witnessed the incredible love and devotion you showed your mom through some of her most difficult moments. You advocated for her, stood by her side, and cared for her with so much love, patience, and dedication. The beautiful bond you shared was truly special, and I hope you find comfort in knowing how much your presence meant to her. Sending my deepest condolences and love to you, Ash, Charlotte and your entire family. May the memories, laughter, and precious years you shared with Ms. Amy bring you comfort during this difficult time. Rest peacefully, Ms. Amy. You were deeply loved, and your beautiful smile and spirit will never be forgotten.

As I've gotten older, I look back on those who had a Positive Impact in my life. I'm thankful that I had a wonderful village that raised me. Mama Green was definitely part of that village. I will always remember her Contagious Smile and her Infectious Laugh. She was always Happy and Jubilant. It wasn't until high school that I heard her raise her voice for the 1st time. She was mad at Osh for something and she came in and fired him up. I remember wanting to leave cause I didn't want any residual smoke. Osh said "Why?" I said "Bro your Mom is heated, I've never seen her get mad." And in Classic Osh form he said ".. it's cool... she'll be alrght!" My brain was fried lol. She even flamed Adam up one time because he and Boss planned and plotted on something. I didn't think Adam got in trouble until that day. Three things are for certain, she loved cats, flowers and she loved to read. I'm thankful for the latter more so cause I was tryna read everything on the shelf especially the Audobon Society collection she had, which ironically came in handy later in life. I was introduced to Greek food on Livingston; Dolmades, Spanikopita, Baklava... There's nothing like a good Lamb Gyro and Pork Souvlaki.. Mama Green and Osh seemed to know where EVERY Fashion Outlet was on the east coast, to which I tagged along on many trips. Personally, I thought it was awesome when the basement was renovated into a "Woman Cave", a Deserved Reward for raising Two Upstanding Gentlemen. I am Thankful and Appreciative for your Kindness and your Generosity and the different things I was introduced to. You are Loved.
