About Delmarva Baseball Weekend
DBW Tournament History
Delmarva Baseball Weekend began its adult baseball journey in 2007. After attending a few Baltimore Orioles Fantasy camps from 2005 thru 2007, I presented the idea of doing a “Fantasy Camp” style event with four teams and all games to be played at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, home of the Baltimore Orioles Class Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds, to Assistant General Manager Jimmy Sweet. The idea was well accepted by him as well as the General Manager Chris Bitters and the first weekend was planned and scheduled in September 2007.
Mother Nature wasn’t a baseball fan that fall, and a tropical storm forced cancellation of the first ever DBW. The earliest that we could reschedule the event was mid to late October. Not all original signees could make the rescheduled weekend and we ended up with 31 players, so basically, we hand-picked three teams and played 3-4 games each on Saturday and Sunday. The weather was less than ideal for baseball, cold and misting rain on both days. I swore I’d not do this kind of event ever again, it appeared that my organizing adult baseball events was brief and short lived.
I ate my words and after much coaxing from several of the ’07 players and my best friend, Gary Kendall, long time Orioles Minor League manager, DBW 2008 was planned, scheduled, and went off without a hitch. In 2020, we started doing two per year.
We have made great progress over the years in presenting an adult baseball event that rivals and matches up to any like it. The future is bright for DBW, and I look forward to continually providing the opportunity for those adults, over the age of 30, wanting to play the best game in the world, baseball.

Goal and Objectives
Our goal has been and continues to be to provide an opportunity for any adult over the age of 30 to experience, as close as possible, a true baseball experience on a professional, minor-league field. Twice a year, we make every attempt to schedule a 3-day, six team event that allows up to 72 players to play five games on the field at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, home of the Class Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds.
We will continue to evaluate how we present these events to the players and always look to improve our presentation both on and off the field. We will strive to make the entire event all about the satisfaction of the players in their quest to live the dream of playing baseball in a professional setting.

Meet Bryan Adkins
Bryan Adkins - Owner / Commissioner
The owner/commissioner of DBW is Bryan Adkins. Bryan was born and raised in Delmar, DE and currently resides there. After playing baseball as a youth and teenager and after graduation, Bryan started playing modified pitch softball, and every year from 1971 to 2004, played every summer in a couple of leagues and a tournament only team. In 2005, Bryan attended his first Baltimore Orioles Fantasy Camp, and continued through 2008, attending four straight camps. In 2009 JSB Baseball was formed, and Bryan played in the first 10 of those events held at Pirate City in Bradenton, FL. Additionally, Bryan played in three consecutive Orioles Dream Weeks starting in 2012, as well as nine Orioles Cooperstown events during this time.
As previously mentioned, Bryan started Delmarva Baseball Weekend in 2007. With the help of a newly appointed Rules and Procedures Committee, Bryan continues to provide those over 30 the best opportunity to play our beloved game of baseball.
Bryan is married to Twila, has 2 daughters, 2 stepsons, and 7 grandchildren.
Events and Schedules
Delmarva Baseball Weekends take place twice per year with the first event usually in late April or in May. The second weekend is usually in late August or September and for the last 2 years has featured a fundraiser for Tunnel to Towers Foundation on Saturday. Each weekend is scheduled for Friday through Sunday with 6 teams of 12 players playing 5 games each. Six managers are selected from a list of volunteers and then there is a pre-event player draft held to pick the teams.
Tunnel to Towers Fundraising
At the 2nd event later in the summer or early fall, we have an all-day fundraiser on Saturday to benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. This foundation was started by the brother of a New York city firefighter who tragically lost his life on September 11, 2001. The foundation was set up in the memory of his brother, Stephen Siller, and is primarily focused on building or renovating homes for catastrophically injured emergency service workers and our military. They also pay off mortgages of those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice and left behind a spouse/family with an existing mortgage.
To date, we have raised over $24,000 and will continue to make each year a bigger and better event. We have a 50-50 and silent auction inside the stadium and have emergency equipment, local car clubs and live music out in the parking lot.
Former Pros Attending
Each of the first two years of the Tunnel to Tower fundraisers, we have had a few former Baltimore Orioles players in attendance to help in the fundraising efforts by signing autographs. We have had former players Scott McGregor, Ross Grimsley, Dave Ford and Glenn Gulliver do autograph signings. In addition, former players Bill Swaggerty and Dave Johnson have actually signed up and played in a few DBW’s.
