About Kathy
My name is Kathy, I am 73 years old, married 46 years to my wonderful husband Mike. Mimi, as I am affectionally called by my three grandsons, brings me great joy, exuberant pride and love as grand kids do. Mimi has become my adopted name as my grandsons’ friends have grown to know me. I am a retired Johns Hopkins University administrative assistant who worked for cancer research scientists. With my job I have had the opportunity to meet and become friends with students from many countries, keeping in touch. I love meeting people and sharing God’s word.

Why support Cuba?
Liz Acosta invited me to travel with her for my first mission trip, and I will continue to go back again and again. Cubans are spiritual, thankful, and gracious, and they will give you the shirts off their backs or anything else to show their appreciation. These people are full of love, and you cannot help wanting to return that love.
What is your favorite memory/thing about Cuba?
I had the privilege to stay with an elder in the church, Luis, and his wife, Mirelle, in their home. Not knowing Spanish, we translated through Google. Later that evening, he insisted on reading to me in English, asking me to correct his pronunciation. What a wonderful family!
