Hello! My name is London. I am currently a senior at Edgewood High School as a member of the GSIB program. After high school I plan on majoring in Information Technology to pursue a career in Cybersecurity. A few fun facts about me: I'm the eldest sister of two younger siblings, I enjoy drawing and design, and I recently picked up baking as a hobby.

After receiving an email from my program supervisor, I read up on the mission of the Transformation Guild and the services they had to offer. I am always looking to improve upon my conversational and teamwork skills, so when I learnt that I would be working with other interns, I quickly put in my application. Having done an internship in web design previously, I was eager to contribute my skills by creating landing pages for community figures and organizations. Ultimately, meeting the interns and mentors was what I was most excited for, and I couldn't wait to begin my journey.

Over the course of the summer, I had the pleasure of interviewing and creating landing pages for two of my amazing teachers at Edgewood High School as part of the Educators 4 Impact project. Through this experience, I was able to fully understand what being a teacher meant to them and why they decided to pursue their careers. One being a science teacher, and one being an English teacher, learning about their respective journeys and ultimately what guided their passion, even through the hardships that they've faced.

Having been taught by both teachers during my high school career, having the opportunity to interview them was a great experience. Not only because I got to learn how they got their start as educators, but as student, I've observed both classroom settings, and the time, dedication, and true passion they put into their profession does not go unnoticed by me. Their dedication is truly inspiring, and I'm happy to have gotten more insight on why they do what they do.

My Role: The main Educators 4 Impact page is where you can view all educators who have made an impact on their community, which I worked with Myra and Layla to add to. After interviewing both teachers, I gave a detailed, but precise description centering around their profession and other fun facts, with individual links to view their separate pages.

The first Educators 4 Impact landing page I created was for Jamie Childs, an English teacher and coordinator for the GSIB program of Edgewood High School.

My Role: I had the opportunity to interview Mrs. Childs earlier in the summer, and gather insight on her journey to becoming a teacher, her community impact, and any words of advice she may have for current of future educators. The page details her background, core values, words of advice, and community involvement/projects. One part of the project that stood out to me was during the interview, when I had asked Mrs. Childs' if she would like to share any interesting facts about herself. I then learned that she is the author of five published books, and a member of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA). This is when I understood the full extent of her passion for english, and how a childhood passion transformed into something much greater.

At the early weeks of the session I also had the opportunity to interview Natalie Reitz, a science teacher at Edgewood High School and manager of the school's very own greenhouse garden. 

My Role: During the length of the interview, I asked Mrs. Reitz about her passion, journey towards becoming an educator, her core values, and the impact she hopes to leave on her students. I then created her landing page, which details her background, the values she leads her classroom with, her advice for educators, and more. I have always known Mrs. Reitz to be a very attentive teacher, willing to help with anything a student may come to her with. While developing the landing page, I came to realize how she made her classroom into the safe space that it is for her students. One of her pieces of advice was to "give students real ownership", and to let them take the wheel sometimes. This stuck out to me in particular, as being a student of her's has allowed to observe first hand how her advice adheres to her classroom.
