I'm so sorry to hear of this news. Bob was always first class, both on the field and off. Both of us shared our love for Christ and family. I still wear the cross he gave me several years ago. Ironically we also shared stories about our recovery from cancer. Jesus is now wrapping his arms around Bob in heaven.

John Kutcher

I have many memories of Bob and am grateful for his many contributions to our ability to play baseball with family and friends. Bob was a founder of the local 30+ Sunday baseball league going beyond its third decade now after he transitioned it to HMBL. I remember Bob vividly directing his outfielders during games and giving it his all. Most of all I remember Bob as patriarch of the Aces -- proudly playing alongside his sons and son-in-law. He loved family and baseball through and through. We will miss him.

Favorite Memory - Just talking to him in the dugout and hanging out. He had a lot of knowledge and insights about baseball that I found very valuable.

Brian Knerr

More than once at JSB, Bob and I shared a few words about how much it meant to us as dads to have the opportunity to play baseball with our sons. I know he treasured those times.

My favorite memory of Bob is the Orioles Fantasy Camp where I was his teammate back in 2007, I believe it was. We had some great conversations in the dugout about baseball, business, just things in general. And I especially remember how he thought I had a good arm and took me aside to teach me a few pitches on the practice mounds at Twin Lakes and some pitching techniques. He didn’t have to do that and I thought that was emblematic of what a great teammate and person he was. Something I’ve never forgotten. Up at Cooperstown the commemorative bricks say “ballplayers all!” Bob was a true ballplayer.

Bob was my first roommate in 1997 at Bob Dowdells World series of fantasy baseball in Fort Myers he prepared me for possibly running into the great Frank Robinson and he was right. Mr. Robinson could be nasty but not with me, yes at first he cursed at me, which I was expecting, but then he became friendly with me. Bob was a cool guy and got to play with him again in 2005 in Camden Yards. He was very huge Orioles fan and nice guy. He will be missed.

I remember my 1st JSB event in Cooperstown probably 8 or 9 yrs ago. I didn’t know a lot of the guys back then. Bob was the 1st one that I met. He approached me and acted like that we had known each other for years. After that he always found me at future events and we always talked family, friends and baseball. He loved his family. No doubt those sons were raised right. That son in law isn’t a bad dude either. Bob endured a lot but I got the feeling he was the rock of the family. He was a great baseball friend and teammate. Always thought so much of him. My deepest condolences and prayers to all the family. Rest in peace Bob. You deserve it.

Everyone is saddened by the loss of our friend and diehard baseball enthusiast Bob. You have brought so many smiles to the dugout and baseball field and always gave everything you had. This game won't be the same without you, but your spirit will always be part of everyone that you have encountered through the years. Bob you leave behind a legacy of hard work and great sportsmanship and it was a pleasure meeting you and playing on the same ball diamond.

It was always fun playing with the Wienholts rather than against them. Bob and I were pitchers in last year's JSB tourney and I could see it was a challenge for him, but he still gave it his all.  This picture is from November 23, 2025 Bradenton, FL. The tournament was over and our team ended up with a 4-3 record but we won the last 4 games. It was always fun playing with the Wienholt family

The Baseball Legacy Society honors those who have shaped our baseball community, preserves their stories, and helps loved ones share information and connect with the support of our greater baseball family.
