Welcome to Playoff Central for the 2024 DCMSBL Season! Below, you will find dates, playoff formats, and eventual scores/recaps when the playoffs get underway.

Posteason Overview

Format

All playoff games are single elimination until the championship series which are best of THREE games - this applies only to the 18+, 30+ and 40+ championship series. 50+ and 60+ are a single championship game. All playoff games are NINE innings unless it's a scheduled doubleheader, then the games are SEVEN innings each. The mercy run rule is still in effect during the playoff games.

 

NOTE: Playoff format and dates subject to change based on how the season goes with make ups.

Leagues

18+

The top six playoff-eligible seeded teams will play in the National Division, and the remaining playoff-eligible teams will play in the American Division. The #1 and #2 seeds in the National Division will receive first round byes. In the American Division, we are projecting five teams, and therefore will have a play-in game between the #4 and #5 seeded teams on Wednesday, July 24th. 

The first two championship games for the American Division (best 2 out of 3 series) are scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 4th and be seven inning games. The if-necessary game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 7th as a nine inning game.

The first two championship games for the National Division (best 2 out of 3 series) are scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 11th and be seven inning games. The if-necessary game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 14th as a nine inning game.

  • Game 3: (1) Arlington Arsenal vs Winner of Game 2 on Sunday, August 4th
  • Game 4: (2) K-Flames vs Winner of Game 1 on Sunday, August 4th
  • Championship Series: Winners of Games 3 and 4 ... Games 5/6 on Sunday, August 11th and Game 7 (if necessary) on Wednesday, August 14th

AMERICAN DIVISION

  • Game 1: (4) Loudoun Beavers vs (5) PG Raiders on Wednesday, July 24th
  • Game 2: (1) NOVA Yankees vs Winner of Game 1 on Sunday, July 28th
  • Game 3: (2) Owls vs (3) Nuthin Fancy New Yorkers on Sunday, July 28th
  • Championship Series: Winners of Game 2 and 3 ... Games 4/5 on Sunday, August 4th and Game 6 (if necessary) on Wednesday, August 7th

30+

The top five playoff-eligible seeded teams will play in the National Division, and the remaining playoff-eligible teams will play in the American Division. 

The National Division will have a play-in game between the #4 and #5 seeds, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 29th. The winner of the play-in game will play the #1 seed in a semifinal game, that is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 1st. The #2 and #3 seeds will also play a semifinal game that is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 1st. The first game of the championship series is scheduled to take place on Monday, August 5th, the second on Thursday, August 8th, and the if-necessary game on Monday, August 12th. 

The American Division will have two semifinal games scheduled on Thursday, August 1st between the #1 and #4 seeds and #2 and #3 seeds. The first game of the championship series is scheduled to take place on Monday, August 5th, the second on Thursday, August 8th, and the if-necessary game on Monday, August 12th.

All playoff games will be nine innings, and in the event of a rainout, teams should be prepared to play the next available weeknight to keep the schedule intact as much as possible.

  • Playoffs end (projected): Thursday, August 8, 2024 or Monday, August 12, 2024
  • Best of 3 game Championship series

40+

There will be a single division for the 40+ playoffs. The #1 seed will have a first-round bye. All other teams will have a first round game scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 3rd. The semifinal games are scheduled to occur on Saturday, August 10th. The first two games of the championship series (best 2 out of 3) are scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 17th and will be seven innings. The if-necessary game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 21st and will be a nine inning game.

All first round and semifinal games will be nine innings. In the event of a rainout, teams should be prepared to play mid-week to keep the schedule intact as much as possible.

  • Playoffs begin (projected): Saturday, August 3, 2024
  • Playoffs end: Saturday, August 17, 2024 or Wednesday, August 21, 2024
  • Best of 3 game Championship series

50+

There will be a single division for the 50+ playoffs. The #1 seed will have a first-round bye. All other teams will have a first round game scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 4th. The semifinal games are scheduled to occur on Sunday, August 11th. The championship game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 18th (SINGLE GAME).

All postseason games will be nine innings. In the event of a rainout, teams should be prepared to play mid-week to keep the schedule intact as much as possible.

60+

There will be two semifinal games on Saturday, August 10th with a single championship game on Saturday, August 17th.
