Richard Faust Legacy
Remembering Richard "The Rev" Faust
Richard Faust was a participant in many events around the Baltimore Orioles Fantasy Baseball Camp from 1995 until his unfortunate passing in 2019. He helped organize the annual Baltimore Orioles Cooperstown Tournament and won the 2014 Championship. In addition to being a very good baseball player, he was a very good teammate and a very funny person to be around. Most importantly, he was a beloved friend. Nicknamed "The Rev," he preached daily about everything imaginable, from how to hit a baseball to how to look good in a uniform to how to have fun in everything you do to how to enjoy life to the fullest. He was passionate about life, and loved his family, friends, and good times.
A Dedication
After his passing, the Baltimore Orioles Fantasy Camp and Dream Week fraternity wanted to do something to honor their baseball buddy at the home of baseball, Cooperstown. Over 150 individuals have donated to Friends of Doubleday, raising over $12,000. A bench was placed at the field inscribed with a tribute to “The Rev.” Each contributor also received a patch honoring “The Rev” that they can wear on their uniform when they play at Doubleday.

Remembering With Stories
Steve Murfin
There are so many wonderful stories about our friend Richard "The Rev" Faust. Everything Richard did always had a purpose - to live life fully, treat people with kindness and laugh every day. And somehow play a little baseball with your friends. Richard befriended me for life at The Orioles Fantasy Camp the moment we met. And he maintained that friendship for the next 23 years. The one story I will share is from the last day I saw him. My Mother would come to Fantasy Camp and Camden Yards to watch me play baseball. Richard treated her as if she was his own mother. He always went out of his way to find her to say hello. And he always found a way to make her smile and often laugh. My Mother was not able to make Fantasy Camp in 2019. On the last day of Fantasy Camp that year, I was talking to her on my cell phone outside the locker room. Here comes Richard. I called him over to say "Hi" to my Mother. I couldn't get him off the phone. He had her laughing. I could hear her on the other end of the phone. Genuine laughter from the soul. I don't remember what he was saying that made her laugh. But I do remember the last thing he said to her before handing the phone back to me. He said, "Good-bye Mom. Love you." When I got the phone back, I could hear my Mother choking up. Then I did. And then she said, "He is a good man. A good friend." And that defines my relationship with The Rev. It was the last time I saw Richard. Eight months later, I led a Memorial Service in Cooperstown for Richard. It was something I just had to do...for him. God Bless you my friend. I am a better person having known you. Thank you for being you.
